CrowdChem: Revolutionizing The Chemical Industry One Development At A Time
Hisaki Ikebata
Mr Ikebata’s Background
Mr. Ikebata, who studied chemistry and served in a sales role at a chemical manufacturer, further pursued data science at graduate school. With a keen aspiration to improve the entire chemical industry, he embarked on launching his startup. The journey was not without its challenges. He faced difficulties in assembling a team, raising funds, and establishing a track record. For him, the essence of a startup lies in maximizing resources and prioritizing speed. His passion and determination toward the future he envisions remain unwavering.
What inspired you to start your startup?
The catalyst for Mr. Ikebata's entrepreneurial journey lies in the lack of information within the chemical industry. He observed that even large corporations often rely solely on their own data for operations, leading to an underutilization of potential. To address this challenge, he founded the platform "CrowdChem," leveraging extensive databases and algorithms to foster innovation within the chemical industry.
What kind of service does CrowdChem provide exactly?
"CrowdChem" is a platform designed for sales and development professionals in the chemical industry, including both manufacturers and users. It tackles the problem of information asymmetry between raw material suppliers and users, which previously caused delays in business operations. By consolidating patent data, research papers, and catalog information, and leveraging machine learning and natural language processing, CrowdChem simplifies processes like material selection, customer search, and theme selection for development. This saves time in gathering information, speeds up development and sales efforts, and boosts productivity. In essence, CrowdChem acts as a valuable tool for accessing material-related information, promoting innovation, and improving efficiency in the chemical industry.
Future Prospects for CrowdChem
Regarding future prospects, Mr. Ikebata plans to expand into overseas markets, in addition to expanding in Japan. In particular, he says it is important to increase the value of the platform by incorporating data from overseas as well, given the bias in data sources in Japan. In particular, North American and European countries are interested in CrowdChem.
What is your own challenge for the future?
My goal is to aggregate data related to the chemical industry and facilitate the flow of information. By doing so, I would like to make the platform available not only to the chemical industry but also to other industries such as cosmetics.
Message to Innovators
Mr. Ikebata believes in the possibility of opening up a new world, stating,
"I urge you to take up the challenge of pursuing where no one has gone before”.
Mr. Ikebata's words convey his attitude of continuous challenge and hope for the future. His passion and determination will bring new life to innovation in the chemical industry.
