Technode Global: Spreading All Things-Tech From China and Beyond

Technode Global is the international tech media platform, spin off from TechNode Group， a prominent media company based in China. With that, why don’t you join me in learning more about Technode Global with its Community and Partnerships Lead, Alex Chatpaitoon.

Can you tell us about your previous experiences in your career and how it has prepared you for this role at Technode Global?

As an early employee of TechNode Global in Thailand, I’m working as Community and Partnership Lead. I bridge the SEA & China tech startup ecosystem and support the expansion of TechNode, an early-stage Series B startup in Southeast Asia. I look after the community, events, marketing, and operations.  I joined the Plug and Play Tech Center (Thailand) and was a part of the team that established the Plug and Play office in Bangkok in 2020 and launched Smart Cities and Food and AgTech accelerator programs. Also, I was part of the team that established Nest.vc office in Bangkok in 2017 and helped the company launch FinTech and Agritech accelerator programs. I held a variety of roles at Nest.vc, including supporting the administration, running ideation workshops, sourcing startups, business development, marketing, facilitating POCs, and leading the accelerator program curriculum canvas.

Before jumping into the startup scene, I started my career in marketing in the United States. I received a MA in Psychology and a BS in Marketing both in the United States.

Could you tell us about the founding story of Technode Global? What inspired the creation of the platform, and what were the initial goals it set out to achieve?

In late 2019, Dr. Gang Lu, the Founder and CEO of TechNode, launched TechNode Global with a broader vision beyond being just a media company. The dynamic startup has evolved into a comprehensive technology community platform, offering not only insightful news but also extending support in fundraising and deal flow. Moreover, we are actively involved in organizing regional events and facilitating valuable corporate-startup partnerships.

Since its inception, TechNode Global has experienced remarkable growth, earning the trust of prominent corporations such as iFLYTEK, Huawei, Alibaba Cloud, NTUC Income and many others, who count themselves among its esteemed clients. By branching out from TechNode, the startup now possesses the autonomy to concentrate its industry-specific expertise and regional knowledge to better cater to the vast Asia Pacific Market. The timing couldn't be more opportune, as the cross-border commercial ties between China and the rest of Asia, particularly Southeast Asia, are deepening. This phenomenon presents an extensive market opportunity, especially as Chinese tech giants escalate their expansion and investments in the region. TechNode Global is strategically positioned to capitalize on these developments and play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and growth within this burgeoning tech landscape.

Our keen attention to the startup ecosystem involves monitoring news, industry events, and venture capital funding announcements. We diligently follow specialized websites, industry publications, and comprehensive startup databases to unearth emerging and noteworthy companies. Through these efforts, we aim to shed light on the most innovative and promising ventures within the vibrant startup landscape.

What are some of the future plans Technode Global has in store? 

TechNode Global will be working closely with our local partners to localize our services and be engaged with local tech ecosystems. The company currently has an office in Singapore, and we have representatives in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. We have plans to set up an office in Malaysia soon.
